Daisy's Journey

Daisy has done so well since her operation. She's healed nicely and her hair pretty much covers the scar anyway. Only 4 more days to go until activation day, the big switch on! The day we have all been waiting for is right around the corner. It honestly feels like there is light finally at the end of the tunnel. 1pm on the 4th December our Daughter will hear for the first time in her life. This Is a very special moment for me and brad, as this is all we have wished for since we found out. I can't wait to record it all and just watch it back in many years to come and one day show Daisy. We have decided to take Amelia with us to the activation. We think it will be special for her to be there. She understands that Daisy has poorly ears and has done since day one. Daisy is doing so well! I don’t know what I was expecting but I didn’t expect her to bounce  back so quickly after a operation like that.  The first weeks she was very groggy and was all mummy but I must admit she did really well considering it was her 3rd night back at the new Home after her operation.  Every little touch to her head would hurt her, but for some reason she’s still try and crawl and fail and hit her head and do it again and again and again.  Daisy had 2 plasters that was covering her stitches, one was half off and daisy thought it would be a good idea to yank it off! I couldn’t believe she did it and didn’t even cry!  The second plaster only came off 2 days ago. Thankfully she didn’t pull this one off, bathing it in water and gentle taking it off was the trick.  The scars are so neat and tidy. It’s incredible what doctors can do these days.  I do try and get a picture of her scars but her hair covers as they hardl...

Daisy finally woke up at 6:15. A lot earlier than usual but what do you expect from a little girl who hates being out of her comfy zone.  She did very well considering to be honest. Once again Daisy was setting all the alarms off, because she is now awake and trying to rip off the wires that are connected to the heart monitor. Thankfully the nurse came quickly and unhooked her. It was about 7am and I’d packed all the bed away and the bedding. Dressed Daisy and fed her. Brad had just set off to come back over to the hospital and I was waiting for the nurse to tell me what the plan was next. 7:45 the nurse told me that we need an X-ray on Daisy to make sure that the cochlear's are in place. Breakfast arrived on the ward, didn't really fancy anything but I had a slice of toast, which Daisy decided to take off me and eat herself. So I had to go back and get some more.   So today is the day that we have been waiting for since finding out about Daisy's deafness. It's cochlear implant surgery day and we are very excited and very nervous. I hardly slept because I was constantly watching the clock making sure we wasn't late. We was up at 4:45am to leave at 6:00am, to be at Nottingham for 7:30am. When we got there we went straight to the ambulatory ward, where we was greeted by our nurse who would be looking after Daisy at her time on that ward.  She was lovely. We had so many doctors/nurses talk to us about what will be happening, my brain was going to pop with the amount of information I got.  At about 8am the anaesthetist came and asked some general questions about Daisy and her health. Daisy was ticking all boxes for us to continue with the operation. Even though she had the slight sniffles and a cough due her to teeth, it was fine to still go ahead. He told us we was 3rd on the list but he was going to try and get her ...

Happy times ahead but very stressful as well. As quite of a lot of you knew we was living with my mother-in-law, but from the 26th October we got the keys to our new home. Very much excited to be moving in this weekend and start making it a home for our family. Second happy thing to happen was Yesterday I had a phone call from Nottingham hospital, telling me Daisy's pre assessment will be Wednesday over the phone. Actually quite glad we don't have to go Nottingham for this. But then she went on to Operation dates and I was thinking maybe middle of November she will say. Oh I was wrong she said the 6th November will be Daisy's operation. I felt physical sick, so many emotions going through my body at once, Excitement; nervous, scared and  extremely overwhelmed how they have got her in so fast... the list goes on. So not only do I have this week and the weekend to get the house ready I also need to make sure Daisy is kept well and doesn't come down with...

Sorry its been a while since I last blogged. Having a 2 year old who always wants my attention and also with that a 8 month old who only wants to be next to me, its hard to actually get some time to myself. But I'm back with some very exciting news!! Lets start with Daisy. She is now 8 months old. - She stands up by herself now; - Sitting up unaided. well, actually when she concentrates on something like a toy etc.. she sits up perfectly. As soon as that concentration goes she goes all wobbly. This is down to her balance being off due to her hearing. so hoping once cochlear implants are in place, it will resolve this problem. But she's doing so well. - Her hand and eye coordination is spot on. So defiantly nothing wrong with her eyes. - She eats all food we eat. My Tommie Tippee blender was a very good purchase. - She has slept through the night since 2 months old. she normally goes 7 til 7 sometimes 9 if she went to bed at 8 the night before. - on 9oz bot...

Currently sat in a side room with Bradley while Daisy is laying right in front of us on the bed fast asleep. We finally got the go ahead for the hearing test! Daisy no longer has fluid behind the ears. Daisy got sedated at 9:50 and went off to sleep at 9:57 fastest they've had yet to go to sleep. We have the audiologist currently in the room setting Daisy up with all the wires  etc.. she looks so peaceful! But don't know what I'm going to do for a few hours while she's having this test. Best thing about today is that we will find out if Daisy needs cochlear implants or if a hearing aid can work if it was higher setting. But he said more than likely she'll need cochlear implants because of it being cmv that caused this. 10:10 and the test has begun. Mine and Bradley's ears are going crazy already because we can hear the noises that are going into Daisy's ears. Our tummys are rumblings as we've had no breakfast just a cup of tea. Can't sto...
