Its Activation Day

OH MY!! were finally here!!!
its activation day. The day is here. The day our little Daisy starts wearing her cochlear's for the first time, forever.
Were all very nervous and excited. Wondering what's going to happen. I have butterflies. not getting my hopes up on a reaction at all. Going in open minded like I have with every appointment.

1pm we've been called into the room. Walking down the hall way looking down at Daisy in the pushchair thinking my sweet baby girl. This is going to be a life changing thing.

Once we got into the room we put Daisy down into the highchair and we began.
They wired her cochlear's up to the computer and just by a click sounds started going into her little brain. They turned on all electrodes and turned her up by 3 levels. level 3 being low then level 1 being the highest.
 but because Daisy didn't react to one little bit of sound we left her on level 1. Many reasons.. Its either to low for her to hear just yet. Or Daisy just isn't bothered about sound. More than likely the 1st one at this moment in time, but its the first hurdle and now its time to keep the cochlear's on Daisy's head as much as we can.

Once we got home we tried everything possible to get a reaction out her. We some but only when we banged on the floor which was amazing to see. Bradley was amazed by the reaction luckily he got it on record.

Our next appointment is in 2 weeks time, where they will turn her up another 3 more levels. hoping we might get more of a reaction but its a slow journey and I'm excited to see what's to come next.

Problems with the cochlear

Sat at home in tears... Daisy has woken up not being able to tolerate her left cochlear, she screaming out in pain and saying its hurting! As you can imagine worst feeling for us as parents as we've never been told this would or could happen.  First thing I did was ring the doctors so they could check in her ear to see if there  was possible ear infection. Once booked the appointment I message Donna and Victoria and straight on the phone to Nottingham Rope Walk House. Where they advised that I should go to her doctors appointment check behind the hear and get the doctor to ring queens while we was there and see what they advise us to do next. Sat in the doctors worried what was going to happen. Will she need it taking out? What sound is she hearing? like what the hell is going on!!! Deep breathe Emily... Cochlear Implants

A cochlear implant is a type of hearing aid that converts sound into electrical signals. Cochlear implants are for people who have no benefit from hearing aids. Stoke Hospital

14th March 2017 Dr Clark got us an appointment with a pediatrician today over a stoke hospital. Due to Daisy's hearing being caused by COngenital CMV from when I pregnant, it comes with other symptoms that we need to get checked. ( I will talk about what CMV is in another blog very soon ) .  We got there at 9:30am. Got greeted by a lovely nurse who we handed a letter to off Dr Clark explaining what had been going on in recent weeks with D aisy. We were put into a cubical where we had to answer some questions about D aisy, she got weighed which she is now 10lb 9oz. which is a really good sign , she is c ontinuing to put on weight .   We then got greeted by the pediatrician , who didn't really have a clue why we was there, he thought we was there for D aisy's hearing when we wasn't!
